Swarachna school was established in 2007 by Milaan Foundation in Kaintain village of Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh to set up the first senior secondary school for the surrounding 13 villages. Nestled between the fields and mango orchards, the school has been built on pillars of equality, opportunity, and leadership with the collective efforts of Milaan and the community to provide holistic and value-based education to children with an emphasis on girls’ empowerment and education.

Swarachna envisions being a center of excellence and innovation in developing and implementing an education model that promotes concept-based activity-driven learning and inculcates the values of self-belief, empathy, and leadership.

Mission

Swarachna School’s mission is to enable all children, irrespective of their religion, caste, class, or sex, with quality and value-based education to explore their full potential and to become independent, responsible, and empathic human beings.

A Chronology

2007 – Founding members started a learning center near Kaintain, Sidhuli, Sitapur providing non-formal education to 48 children.

2008 – Considering the need, generous community leaders donated 1 acre of land to Milaan with Milaan committing to

build and run the 1st secondary school for the community.

2009 – Founder students ran a crowdfunding campaign, “Build a School, Brick by Brick” and raised funds to build the first 2 rooms of the school.

2012 – School started construction and launched a Mid-day meal programme to meet the infrastructure requirement under the RTE, 2010 mandate for non-governmental schools. 

2016 – Swarachna School was awarded a lifetime affiliation by the UP board, till grade 12.

2017 – Students from class 10th and 12th delivered a 100% pass result 

2020 – Bought another acre of land for school expansion to serve 1000 children and build a residential school for 400 high performing girls from low-income communities of Uttar Pradesh
